Windows 8 X64 Laptop Started Acting REALLY Strange. Help!

It just so happens that my PC is acting up right now. I can't even restart my pc without a BSOD. And I get a notification that says the hard drive stopped momentarily. I have no idea what to do and I would really appreciate some help!
I can't even open the Start "Menu" or panel as some would call it in windows 8, so I can't connect to the internet. My keyboard started acting weird all of a sudden. Quite experienced with PC's, though this has me stumped.Windows Update will not remember my settings, within half an hour of selecting "Install Updates Automatically or using the Let Me Choose option, It just kept at 'Installation is almost complete' for like 1 hour.

General Discussion computer acting weird with new bios upgradehi all. Also, the recovery environtment mode also doesnt work. I turned it on and everything looked fine, I even got programs to run. Over the past 2 weeks, sometimes when I turn on my computer Windows will boot up and everything will show up on the desktop and look fine.
This hints me to thinking there's a virus, those are VERY high values for being idle. solution I have a Lenovo T420. Desktop backgrounds and taskbar items are still completely gone. I've run full scans with Malwarebytes, SuperAntiSpyware and BitDefender to no avail.
The programs won't start and under start - all programs there will not be a list of programs. I always choose the latter. It's been great! Help!
If I change the wallpaper it changes it on all machines. For example, all my usb ports stopped working with my mouse, keyboard or any other device I try. Yesterday I turned on a laptop that hadn't been turned on since July and it had over 70 updates. If you have any questions do not assume or guess while doing this process just ask me, any mistakes can add hours to the process.
