Windows 7 - Not Booting Up - Letter J
Just "j", when attempting to boot from USB Started by Volatus, April 4, 2008 20 posts in this topic Prev 1 2 Next Page 1 of 2 Volatus 0 What tool did you use to format it with? On completion the system restarted on its own but did not boot up - only the letter 'J' is flashed on the top left of the black screen. Please e-mail me when you have a solution as I have very important data on my laptop that i wanted to backup before I experienced this Problem. my review here
It just seems to be another format tool.As a result, I think my USB drive was left with the old bootsector or boot data, and as a result, it doesn't boot I pressed F8 to access the safe mode page, but all the options in that page just ends up with a black screen with a moving cursor. 'Safe mode' option itself after that when you turn the PC starts but before leaving the logo remains on the part of the bios and see a J and then not passed as Nose Hopefully Thanks, Nitin 05-05-2012, 10:29 PM #4 JackBauer_24 TSF Team, Emeritus Join Date: Sep 2011 Location: New York, USA Posts: 5,566 OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit/Ubuntu 14.04 LTS http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/209487-help-windows-7-not-booting-up-letter-j.html

I'm starting to hate that letter. However I've noticed that the memory I got back has been going down at the same rate as before (see link to thread below). Sign in here. I had to leave the house for a while, so placed it in Sleep mode, but then realized I'd forgotten to do something, so before it actually went into sleep mode

Today I was trying to make a bootable Windows 7 USB using WinToFlash.
Whenever I'm away from the computer for an extended time, I always go to Start and put it in sleep mode.
You should repeat this procedure up to four times if the first attempt does not work. It was then completely blank, all zeroes from sector 0 on.Then I formatted it with PEtoUSB on the default options (Enable LBA checked). Now I'm running USB_MultiBoot_8.cmd again on it. windows do not boot letter j displayed Discussion in 'Windows 7' started by nikhill, Apr 20, 2014. I just let PE2USB do its own thing with defaults. Not the answer you're looking for? I just wish it would work. The tools that are provided to prepare a USB drive for booting are shady at best. Both testing passed successfully.
