Resolved by deleting the Windows profile and rebuilding it. I had to add EVERY site I visited to the trusted site list in tools >internet options, otherwise it would not work . It speeded up my internet, cleaned some stuff & blocks ads that used to come up. If it is still there, then you can simply restore your system back to the earliest time BEFORE you installed IE8, whatever date that might be. I had to uninstall ie11, ie10,ie9, and ie8 started to work properly.

I tried all the Microsoft fixes and nothing worked. I've spent days running around in circles trying to get IE8 running again, this did it in a few minutes!
