Anyway I unchecked it and a window came up asking if I wanted to apply this to subfolders (there weren't any). Now I've tried plugging it into the USB port in the rear of the machine BELOW where the external hard drive is plugged in. For me it didn't matter because the drive was new and blank anyway.
