Removing it is most definitely the *wrong* thing to do to try to resolve this problem, and is pretty much guaranteed to hose your system. I have another computer which I use to connect to the internet, as a gateway, and this one connects to the internet through that computer. They start and immediately close. Maybe if I got an updated version of svchost off the web or something that might help as well.
