Vista Won't Boot & Monitor Doesn't Work
The Last Known Good Configuration choice simply runs Windows System Restore using the last restore point and then boots normally. Next time I booted up, it hung up at the screen with the green bar moving left to right with the words "Microsoft Corporation" on the bottom. Yes, I have held down the shut off key a few times today and the computer will not go past the welcome and will not let me sign in. This definitely had not tried to install before, so we're now off "down a different leg of the trousers of time". I immediately got a "windows error recovery screen" allowing me to do two things: run startup repair or start windows normally. My PC isn't under warrentee any more so contacting Dell is out of the question. news RAM sticks are so cheap and big now that you could probably back up all your documents on a regular basis.
